<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The 20th century marked the understanding that more than 80% of genes have an additional biological function in the cell associated with the regulation of the expression of other genes. Non-coding sequential-type RNA regulators, including microRNAs, capable of changing the expression of proteins in the cell, can be expressed with such genes. MicroRNAs are singlestranded RNA sequences 20–25 nucleotides in length that regulate gene expression at the posttranscriptional level through degradation or repression of mRNA translation. This review examines aspects of the biogenesis of microRNAs in mammalian cells, as well as their functions in endothelial cells and in the regulation of angiogenesis.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>микроРНК</kwd><kwd>некодирующие РНК</kwd><kwd>эндотелиальные клетки</kwd><kwd>ангиогенез</kwd><kwd>сосуды</kwd><kwd>Plaur-miR1</kwd><kwd>микроРНК сосудов</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>microRNA</kwd><kwd>non-coding RNA</kwd><kwd>endothelial cells</kwd><kwd>angiogenesis</kwd><kwd>blood vessels</kwd><kwd>PlaurmiR1</kwd><kwd>vascular microRNA</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Работа выполнена при финансовой поддержке Министерства здравоохранения РФ в рамках научного проекта ГЗ НИР № НИОКТР 124020200013-3 «Некодирующие РНК как перспективное направление в регуляции обновления и репарации сердечно-сосудистой системы».</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">This work was supported by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (state assignment SRW No. RTD 124020200013-3 “Non-coding RNAs as a promising tool for repair and regeneration of cardiovascular system”).</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Pelletier D, Rivera B, Fabian MR, Foulkes WD. miRNA biogenesis and inherited disorders: clinico-molecular insights.
